International Dialing Format

To make an international call, use the following format:

Common Exit Codes

• Most countries: 00 (e.g., 00-44-20-1234-5678 to call London from Europe)
• USA/Canada: 011 (e.g., 011-44-20-1234-5678 to call London from USA)
• Alternative: + (plus sign, works from most mobile phones)

Examples

• Calling UK from USA: 011-44-20-1234-5678
• Calling USA from UK: 00-1-212-555-1234
• Using + format: +44-20-1234-5678 (works from most mobiles)

Tips

• Drop the leading zero from the area code when dialing internationally (except for Italy)
• The + symbol can usually be entered by long-pressing the 0 key on mobile phones
• Some countries share the same country code (e.g., USA and Canada both use +1)
• Check with your phone provider for international calling rates
